I'm so excited to announce that we are now partners with the brilliant British-based bamboo toothbrush company, Bristle.
Whilst researching and fundraising for the Everyday Superheroes film (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/everydaysuperheroes/everyday-superheroes), we've been bonding over all things plastic alternatives and great design. They will feature as "the toothbrush" in the film if we reach our Kickstarter target and can go ahead with production. And this is just the start...
It's so exciting to find people who are giving people options in this plastic-filled world that we live in. And options that look nice too!
Here is a bit more about what they do:
A NEW WAY TO BRUSH
Billions of plastic toothbrushes are thrown out every year – your new Bristle won’t be one of them. We have spent an awful lot of time pondering over how to make it as easy as possible for you to swap to our eco-friendly bamboo toothbrush, and we are pretty excited with the results!
Your smile is really important to us, we don’t want you to sacrifice your teeth to save the planet, which is why we’ve worked hard to ensure that your new biodegradable bamboo toothbrush is better than your old plastic one. We believe in keeping it simple, so we won’t be trying to dazzle you with fancy colours and useless gimmicks. Our brushes follow current dental recommendations for proper oral hygiene.
Our bristles are soft – this is to stop you from damaging your gums during brushing and keeps your teeth strong and healthy. Many people insist on brushing their teeth with harder bristles because it feels like they’re doing a better job of scrubbing away debris; but all that scrubbing can damage your gums and enamel over time. Our brushes have a small head, so you can really spend time cleaning those hard to reach teeth, without it becoming uncomfortable. We’ve also added a wave shape to our bristles for more effective cleaning.
Dentists recommend you switch your brush every 2 – 3 months or whenever your brush is showing significant wear. An old toothbrush becomes home to lots of nasty bacteria, and frayed bristles are pretty useless at cleaning your teeth. With our affordable bamboo toothbrush subscription service, you’ll never forget to change your brush again!
Plastic pollution is devastating the environment. Recent environmental sampling estimates that a total of 12.2 million tonnes of plastic enters the marine environment each year. 94% of the plastic in our oceans is actually on the sea floor, where it is almost impossible to clean up. This toxic, petroleum-based waste takes hundreds of years to break down and can be found circulating in ocean currents. It has quickly entered the food chain contaminating what we eat and effecting the water. A recent test showed that 83% of drinking water samples taken across the globe contain plastic pollutants. Our addiction to plastic is choking the earth and threatening all life on it.
Every year billions of plastic toothbrushes are thrown away. These are difficult to recycle and many go into landfill or water courses ultimately ending up the sea. It’s fair to assume that every toothbrush you’ve ever used in your lifetime is still somewhere on Earth, leaching harmful pollutants into the soil and water.
There are 65.64 million people in the UK. That’s a lot of plastic toothbrushes! Here at Bristle we aim to change the way Britain brushes her teeth, by supplying you with a quality, biodegradable alternative.
A toothbrush shouldn’t cost the earth and it shouldn’t put a big hole in your bank account either. We’ve made sure that our prices are totally affordable, so that it’s really easy for you to make the switch. Our subscription service includes free postage anywhere in the UK so you don’t have to worry about choosing a brush in the supermarket ever again. We’re making it easy for you to find a convenient, environmentally-sustainable alternative, without it hurting your pocket.
Our flexible and simple bamboo toothbrush subscription service makes it really easy for you to change your recurring orders whenever you want. Simply log in to your account and change anything from the number of toothbrushes, to the frequency of your orders. It is also easy to change your personal details and we have a number of easy to follow billing options. With Bristle, you’ll always be in control.
Friendly, honest & absolutely no secrets.
Unfortunately, despite what many other companies out there will try to tell you, toothbrush bristles are not biodegradable. (Unless they are made of pig hair, which for obvious reasons, ours aren’t!). If this bothers you, don’t worry, it bothers us too. We want to make a toothbrush which is 100% biodegradable and we’re working on it. In the mean time, we think you’ll be happy with our toothbrushes which are 99% more biodegradable than your current plastic one!
